Q.  Do I have to upgrade to Office XP to use FrontPage 2002?
A. No. You can use FrontPage 2002 with previous versions of Office and Office programs.

Q. What will my computer need to be able to run FrontPage 2002?

Q. FrontPage 2000 included Image Composer. Does FrontPage 2002 include a graphics editing tool?
A. Microsoft customers wanted integrated graphics capabilities, not a separate application. So, FrontPage 2002 features integrated Microsoft PowerPoint®–like graphics editing tools, including AutoShapes, callouts, drop shadows, and a photo gallery. You can crop images, make them transparent or black and white, create image maps, add text, and more.

Q. What browsers does FrontPage 2002 support?
A. FrontPage-created sites can be viewed in any browser. FrontPage also offers cross-browser support for Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language (DHTML). Users can preview a site in any browser loaded on their computer by using the Preview in Browser feature in FrontPage.

Q. Do I have to uninstall previous versions of FrontPage to use FrontPage 2002?
A. No. You can run them simultaneously. During the installation process for FrontPage 2002, you will be asked if you wish to keep the previous version. Simply choose that option.

Q. Can files created with FrontPage 2002 be edited in previous versions?
A. Yes. FrontPage 2002 creates standard HTML pages that can be edited in previous versions of FrontPage. The only exceptions are the sections of Web pages that use new features in FrontPage 2002, such as the photo gallery, top 10 lists, and link bars.

Q. Can I use FrontPage 2002 to work on files created in previous versions of FrontPage?
A. Yes. You can use FrontPage 2002 to open, edit, and enhance Web pages created in prior versions of FrontPage.


FRONTPAGE PRICING AND ORDERING

Q. How much does it cost to acquire FrontPage 2002?
A. The estimated retail price for a FrontPage 2002 license is $169 US, and an upgrade license is $89.95 US. If you own a license for a previous version, you are eligible for upgrade pricing. Get full details on the Pricing and Ordering page on Microsoft's web site.

Q. I have FrontPage Express. Does that qualify me for upgrade pricing?
A. No. You need to own a license for FrontPage version 98 or 2000 for Windows 95 or later, Windows NT Workstation, or Windows NT Server to qualify for upgrade pricing.

Q. Is FrontPage still available with Office?
A. Yes. It is included in Office XP Developer and a volume-license-only version called Office XP Professional with FrontPage. Get details on the Office Choose Your Suite page.


FRONTPAGE TRIAL VERSIONS

Q. Is a trial version available for FrontPage 2002?
A. Trial versions of Microsoft Office System programs, including Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, will be available in October. You can sign up today to receive e-mail notification of when the trials are available and can be ordered online.

Q. Is FrontPage included in the Office XP trial?
A. No. The Office XP Professional 30-Day Trial CD does not include FrontPage.

Q. What happens now that the FrontPage 2002 trial has ended?
A. The Web pages you created during the trial period are standard HTML pages and can still be viewed now that the trial has ended. If you want to edit your Web pages or Web sites with FrontPage, however, you must purchase a license for FrontPage 2002 or reinstall your original version of FrontPage.

Q. How do I uninstall the FrontPage 2002 Trial?
A. To uninstall the trial version of FrontPage 2002, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, select Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Trial.
  4. Click Add/Remove and follow the instructions.

Q. Does FrontPage include a script debugger?
A. Yes. The Microsoft Script Editor, included in FrontPage, helps users create and debug script and Active Server Pages (ASP) code.

Q. Is FrontPage Express still available?
A. No, it has been discontinued. FrontPage Express was distributed as a free component of Internet Explorer Plus 4.0 and has not been included with newer versions of Internet Explorer. FrontPage Express was not available as a stand-alone product.

Q. How do I get help using FrontPage Express?
A. Visit Microsoft TechNet and read the FrontPage Express chapter in the Internet Explorer 4.0 Resource Kit, or search the Knowledge Base for FrontPage Express articles.

Q. Is there a FrontPage product for the Macintosh?
A. No. The last version released for the Macintosh—Microsoft FrontPage 1.0 for the Mac—is no longer available.
